Visual Description: Generational meteorological differences.
HOYTER = THEORY, NZEEES = SNEEZE, THOSEO = SOOTHE, DEMPIE = IMPEDE, AGETOE = GOATEE, LUDFON = UNFOLD — Giving us: HRSNSTHIEDATEUL
Clue/Question: The evening weatherman was worried that the new meteorologist would – – –
Pre-Answer: Three Words (5-letters) (3-letters) (7-letters)
Answer: STEAL HIS THUNDER
(Another terrific pun! For a second or two I thought this was going to be a tough solve. But, the answer hit me like a bolt of lightning! There were no new clue words today, but five of the six jumbles came up as new. Hoytie has used “hoyter” before! Only “agetoe” and “ludfon” gave me a slight pause. The others were instant for me. The answer letter layout was a brilliant jumble. It definitely didn’t give anything away. I think it was the combination of the clue/question, the great cartoon, and its dialog that made the answer fairly obvious to me. The new guy is very dapper, in his carefully coiffed do and beard, and his expensive sharp suit. While the veteran dons the classic loud plaid sports coat, and a not so convincing toupee. Lots of fun! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

SOOTHE and GOATEE took me a second or two each – the rest were instant. These two words were once in my “toughest words” list and have been downgraded to the “tough words” list, but they continue to give me some trouble and hence remain there. For the final answer, I initially though the second word was THE. When I removed those letters and tried to solve the other two words, I was momentarily truck. Then, all of a sudden, I saw STEAL and then THUNDER; at the same time, I realized that the second word would have to be HIS.
Hi all! I’m back and have made it to the Sunday, July 3 jumbler. I am very unhappy to report that my newspaper as yet again messed up the puzzler. I had the jumble solved, or so I thought — STEAL HIS THUNDER; however, I had no R…so I decided that it HAD to be a newspaper error…sure was. In the word THEORY, the circle was in the wrong place. Instead of being in the fifth square, it was in the 4th square!
Jeff, if you want a copy, I’ll be glad to e-mail it to you.

Got it, kid! Welcome back! Hope you had a fruitful trip. — YUR
Hi, Linda! Yes. We were made aware of that. I think it was just your paper. Some genius there doesn’t know how to copy and paste. I’m not sure how papers insert the puzzles. Sometimes they really mess it up, which makes us look bad. We can do that on our own.
Welcome back, LL!
No one is going to steal your thunder. 😉
Thank you guyz!!
Jeff, it would seem that my paper is the star of messing up. Back when y’all were posting the cartoonists’ jumbles, they actually repeated the cartoon for the 11/18/15 Pickles jumble on 11/19/15 jumble. The 11/19 jumble did have the correct scrambled clue words and answer circles for the actual 11/19 OfftheMark (OfftheMark) jumble. But of course, it made no sense because of the cartoon. I tried a couple of times to post that tidbit of info back then, but it never did send. At the time I tried to post, no one else had mentioned the mix-up. On the 12/27/15 jumble, there was no O circled, so you did not have the work KNOWLEDGE! There was an extra N left over, so one of the Ns should not have been circled! I may have posted that one. Don’t remember.
AND, I would ALWAYS assume the paper messed up–I am too in awe of all y’all to ever think you’d mess up!!! 🙂 LL.
Definitely not our guys! It’s an unfortunate commentary on the sad state of newspapers, LindaLee. — YUR
