(I think that popular culture, and the media, puts a much larger emphasis on negative stress, but there are positive stresses, as well.  Eustress is the term that Selye coined for positive stress.  But, ultimately, it’s a matter of perception and attitude.  If you do heavy labor, or you’re forced to march a long distance, you tire – and grumble – much more quickly than if you approach it as exercise, that’s going to help you gain muscle and lose fat/weight.  The same goes for almost every experience and emotion in our lives.  The negative stresses, which we always hear of the detrimental effects, is better categorized as distress.  I had forgotten that we’ve had a Selye quote in the past.  I bet WordPress will find it and tack it on to the bottom of this post.  Be well . . . by being positive, and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
