BADIE = ABIDE, BUGOM = GUMBO, RERACE = CAREER, SYAART = ASTRAY — Giving us: AEGARRAY
Clue/Question: How widespread would the fog be tomorrow morning? It was a bit of a – – –
Answer: GRAY AREA
(Television weather people have always been a strange lot, as far as news people go. When I was a kid, a lot of them were known for their loud sports coats, and their corny sense of humor. Nowadays, they’re mainly “babes”, or “hunks”, or people who act like they have ants in their pants. The hyper-animated clowns are probably the most annoying to watch, always jumping around and gesticulating like they’re trying to communicate with the deaf, or something. Chill out, dudes! The “babes” are easier for me to watch, as long as they’re capable. They’re the ones who have at least a shot at pulling anchor duty some day. The big breasted bimbos do have a certain appeal also, but you kind of know they aren’t really going anywhere. They’re just eye candy. The “hunks” are kind of a throwback to the loud sports coats guys, but with more gimmicks, like taking off their jackets and rolling up their sleeves, as if they’re going to battle the weather. Some of these guys even have their own theme songs! Just give me the most plausible forecast, and spare me all the theatrics, guys. Please.
No new clue words today, but three of the jumbles came up as new. We’ve seen “badie” before. They are all pretty good jumbles though. I really liked “rerace” and “syaart”, because they look like they could be real words. The answer letter layout was a beautiful jumble. I enjoyed the pun. I liked the Simpsons reference in the cartoon. Jeff is just a big kid. Kinda like me. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
PS. Today would have been my Dad’s 82 birthday! Happy birthday, Dad . . . wherever you are! — YUR

Many years ago, Willard Scott, then at the height of his career (not RECARE) as NBC’s “Today” weatherman, told a fawning BBC interviewer, “All people really wanna know is if they have to bring their umbrella to work today – the rest is just lagniappe.” It was true then, and it’s true now!
Look at hal, breaking out an old New Orleanian chestnut! (I had to look that one – lagniappe – up, my friend.)

Great anecdote, hal. I had a fair bit of trouble with CAREER and ASTRAY. The jumble for the former, in particular, was superb – feels like a word in itself! I had no trouble with the final answer.
PS: I wrote this note before I saw your blog post, UR. So, we seem to have felt the same way about the jumbles today!
. . . okee
ASTRAY gave me the most trouble as well. The answer letter layout took just enough time for me to see GARRAY and then GRAY.
Yah, astray drove me nuts; had to open this site to know the answer. Feels good I have company with this one.
