(No, Art. I was not able to come up with the author’s name on my own! She has been in the news a lot, the last few years. And, she is a very brave and determined young woman. But, her name is not exactly a household name. At least not in my household. And, no. I’m not proud of this. She’s the youngest person to win the Nobel Peace Prize though. It’s a good thing getting shot in the head is not a prerequisite to winning the Nobel Peace Prize! She is still just a kid, but as a human rights advocate her name will surely become more and more recognizable. Even to Eurocentric, semi-chauvanists, like myself. How true … this one was a BREEZE until the author’s name! I vaguely remembered MALALA, but no way to fill in the last name. (Yet easier than the name of the volcano in Iceland.) It is nice to get this reminder of her.
It looks like any number of Icelandic volcanoes are a bit of a mouthful, hal. Do you mean the Eyj_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ one? I know when the author can’t be readily solved Art gets a little testy. Did you see the one “Related Article” from a guy who claims she was not shot? It’s probably nothing, but it does bring to mind the girl they trotted out during the first (GHWB) Gulf War. It turned out her “story” was part of an anti-Hussein propaganda push.
