“When something is important enough, you do it even if the odds are not in your favor.” — Elon Musk
(Our first Elon Musk quote! Possibly the greatest entrepreneur of all time. And, this guy is still just 44 years old. It’s remarkable what he has accomplished so far, and what he is on the cusp of accomplishing. He’s a bit of a gambler, but a very calculating and knowledgeable gambler. His gambles are not so much in will it work. His gambles are more in going up against the entrenched systems, that have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo. He’s a man of great vision, who places a higher emphasis on progress over mere profit. I don’t know if I believe in “fate”, but he seems to have come along at just the right time in human history. If he had been born, and started out, 10 – 15 years earlier he might not be where he is today. He was tailor-made for this internet era, and he is doing so much to change the world, for the better. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

Not to mention, this quote was very intuitive to suss out, unlike yesterday’s, in which I (like you, UR!) more or less had to assume the author’s first name was __A__A.
He is a man with a super-sized ego though. He was the Caltech commencement speaker a few years back. Instead of encouraging the students and giving them advice on how to be successful, he spent the entire time rambling about how great he was and all the things he has accomplished. Great innovator, but not a great guy.
Today’s was somewhat easier, hal. But, what I thought what ended up being the N was going to be the E. But, fortunately, there were four 2-letter words that started with H, and that was an I giveaway, for me. So, when I realized it couldn’t be an E, the next logical move was the N, and I was off to the races. The cryp for ODDS was a little unexpected too. Yesterday, Maya came to me largely because of the word MAY in the quote. If she had said MIGHT . . . I might still be working on it!

Now, now, Vijay! Just because the man was not impressed with your best online Jumble solve time, is no reason to malign the man! LOL! The entire world isn’t full of the warm embrace you receive here at Uncle Rave’s, you know. Very often though, guys like him are going to come off as egotistical. It kind of comes with the territory. Maybe he really wasn’t all that thrilled to give the commencement speech. Maybe it was his first commencement speech. Maybe he thought that’s what the grads wanted to hear? Who knows? All I know is the good he is doing through his innovations, and that he signed on to the Giving Pledge, like Gates and Buffet and a few others have. He just might be a little awkward when it comes to giving speeches. But, you certainly are entitled to your impression of the man.

Interesting viewpoint, UR. Maybe you are right.
He could be a total tool, Vijay. But, one semi-impersonal encounter isn’t really enough for a fair assessment. — YUR
Fair enough, UR.
