Answer:  RAHMEN NOODLES

(Cheap soup!  Tasty, easy to make, and fairly filling.  Usually pretty high in sodium though.  Not a good idea to make a habit of them.  No new clue words today, however all of the jumbles came up as new.  I stumbled a bit on “dosted”, but the others were instantaneous for me.  Splendid answer letter layout.  It gave nothing away.  For whatever reason, I couldn’t/didn’t think of ramen right away.  I thought of udon noodles, though I knew that was an unlikely answer.  But, it did give me the NOODLES, which left me with HENMAR.  That’s when ramen, and it’s pun: RAH-MEN set in.  The cartoon was fun.  But, with the guy standing up, it looked like he was holding up an order of fries.  The seated dudes did a better job of conveying noodles.  Be well and do good, friends.  Don’t eat too much instant ramen, especially the kind that comes in styrofoam containers!)   —   YUR

I had trouble with ODDEST too. I kept trying for a word ending in ED. For the final answer, for some reason, I thought that the first word was NOO-DLE and that completely threw me off. Finally, I saw the S and realized that the second word was NOODLES. That gave me RAH-MEN and the pun sank in. UR, I also thought that the guy standing up was holding fries (although that didn’t throw me off)!

You’re quite right about the sodium in those instant noodle soups, UR. I think if they weren’t loaded with salt, they’d taste pretty awful! The clue words were pretty straightforward, UNLIKE the third & fourth words today (Wednesday) …

Hey, hal. Definitely PURSER, but I saw HECTIC right away. But, you’re not alone. I’m seeing a lot of queries for HECTIC! And, somehow, yesterday became my all-time high for queries. I think someone new did a lot of looking at older ones, because I don’t think RAH-MEN NOODLES was all that tough!
