“The environment is where we all meet; where all have a mutual interest; it is the one thing that all of us share.” — Lady Bird Johnson

(Lady Bird was around for the first Earth Day, back in 1970! I remember she was very fond of flowers, especially wild flowers. Earth Day is tomorrow, but I’d like to think that most of us have come to consider every day Earth Day. Our resources and our atmosphere, and everything are finite and precious. We all need to be better stewards of this big blue marble we live on. Our grandchildren are depending on us. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

Lady Bird Johnson had her husband preserve some land in Southern New Jersey I’m not sure of the whole story but they were riding down Route 70 or 73 Toward Long Beach Island.I think maybe the Laurel was blooming anyhow she got some of the Pine Barrens preserved from development ….thanks for your history lessons with each and every cryptoquote
Thank you, Scott! I wasn’t aware that they were responsible for protecting some of the Pine Barrens. I don’t get down to South Jersey very often, but I have driven down to LBI a few times. There is a lot of geographic diversity to New Jersey, that a lot of people don’t realize. Contrary to some popular belief, The Garden State is NOT a misnomer.
