Answer: PLAY HIS CARDS RIGHT
(Not bad! I don’t think the answer was abundantly obvious, by any means. I had to think on it a bit. After looking at the answer letter layout, for about 10 seconds, I soon decided the second word was HIS. From there the other words – that make up the familiar phrase – came right to me. None of today’s clue words are new, but four of the jumbles appear to be new. We’ve definitely seen “gedder” and “slipho” before. I had to skip, and come back to, “conany”. Other past jumbles of “canyon” have been easier for me. The answer letter layout was a nifty jumble, that I don’t think gave anything away. The cartoon is a great casino scene. Hey, Jeff. Just stay away from Syd and Cam’s college funds! LOL! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
PS. Yesterday was a HUUUUGE day for visits to Uncle Rave’s Wordy Weblog! Didn’t quite break the record, but there were 5861 total hits. SPWIRA carried the day! I don’t know how Marvin and Art found that jumble so easy. It appears to be a jumble for the ages! — YUR

Congrats on the spike of hits, Uncle. Was about time. It also shows that for every 5860 intelligent people, there’s at least one to whom the meaning and solutions of your well crafted puzzles still eludes him. And that’s me. Cheers
Our paper left out the answer line/letter circles today, so we were all on our own figuring out what the solution was, just by using the letters. Had no idea how many words were in the answer. Between yesterday’s ‘ripsaw’, and today’s blind solution, my brain is fatigued and in need of chocolate!
Wes,
I don’t “craft” these puzzles. I just solve them, and post the spoilers, before the answers are revealed the following day.
jenn,
You know you can always come here for the Sunday Jumble number of words, and how many letters are in each word, thanks to Vijay’s suggestion.

I found SCRIPT tough on this one. For the final answer, I knew that PLAY and CARDS were two of the words, and probably HIS as well. The answer became pretty obvious with this insight.
Ah, thanks UR! ..and vinatraj1 as well!
