Answer:  TAILGAITERS

(This was a tough solve, mainly because one of the clue word jumbles was very tough to unscramble.  And, that tough clue word was a new clue word.  Our good friend, ralis95, needs to update his world famous clue word database for “ripsaw”.  And if he didn’t see yesterday’s edited spoiler, “syntax” definitely needs to be added as well.  I couldn’t even back into “ripsaw” for quite a while, as I was heavily focused on TAIL-GAITING, instead of TAIL-GAITERS.  I knew it was tail something, and I did finally figure out gaiters.  If I was a carpenter, or a landscaper, I might have seen “ripsaw” a lot sooner.  But, I’m not, so I didn’t.  I’m betting a number of you didn’t see it as well.  At least not right away.  We have seen the jumble “tidot” before.  The answer letter layout – especially with some missing letters – didn’t give anything away.  And, I loved the horsey cartoon.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

It *was* a little harder, UR, and I first had to eliminate WARPS and WASP as parts of the third word. RIPSAW is definitely making its debut in Jumble. I wondered for a moment if it’s generally accepted as a single compound word, and not RIP-SAW or RIP SAW, but it seems to be fair game!

I found this puzzle very easy and I did it with out my eye glasses. Ripsaw was the easiest part.

    hal76,

We had the exact same thought processes. Wikipedia, which I think might be British, has it as two words. But ripsaw is generally recognized as a single compound word. They have been the bane of my Spoiler existence!

    Marvin Coren,

You are amazing, brother! You are in a decided minority though. On a moderately heavy day, I might see 3400 queries. I’m already over 4800 queries, and there are still 3 hours left in the day!

This was my toughest solve of the year. I had never heard of RIPSAW and I got it by pure trial and error (easy in the online version; I would have probably given up on the print version). I was trying to back into it but I didn’t get TAIL before I solved RIPSAW. Once I had all the letters, I immediately realized that the answer was a pun on tailgaters, and the solution became obvious. I am glad I persevered and didn’t give up. 3 minutes 50 seconds overall.

Well, I knew I had no chance on this one – sadly waited for your post. But at least RIPSAW wasn’t a toughie.

Question: how do you get thousands of queries beyond the handful of comments here? Am I missing seeing an “Ask God” button on your site?

    Hey, Art!

I wish I could explain the disparity between queries/visits and Comments to my posts, but I can’t. I CAN tell you I currently have 1315 Followers, but the vast majority don’t take the time to Comment, or even Like the posts. On my Stats Site page it lets me know how many *visits* I get on a daily basis. It also shows what post they got to, and the search criteria they used. A normal light day is roughly 2300 (or so) and a moderately heavy day is in the 3400 range. I copied the link to my Stats page, and I’m going to paste it here, although I’m not sure if it will work for anyone but the Administrator – – – me. (It closed out yesterday at a little over 5800.)

Exact same process for me. Took two days to get ripsaw and I was pissed!
Thanks for being the Jumble master that I can’t be.

    Thanks, Martha!

And, it looks like queries for yesterday’s jumble are CONTINUING today. If the link works, you’ll see that they far exceed queries for today’s (Sunday) jumble.
