FRAWH = WHARF, NORGP = PRONG, SAJTUD = ADJUST, SLURPA = PULSAR — Giving us: WRPROADTLSA
Clue/Question: The atmospheres of Venus and Earth are – – –
Answers: WORLDS APART
(A nice challenging Jumble! It looks like all the clue words are old favorites, and three of the four jumbles have been used before. Only “frawh” appears to be new. I struggled to un-scramble “slurpa”. I had to back into it, and that wasn’t easy, because without the letters from the last word the answer wasn’t all that obvious. But, I saw enough to figure that out, so I knew I needed an S, an A, and an L. The answer letter layout didn’t give the answer away, in my opinion. I’m looking at the reduced size cartoon today – and for the next couple of days – so it’s hard to see the detail. But, I was able to make out Neil deGrasse Tyson! The planets are definitely a little murky, due to the reduction. I think it’s Venus to the left and Earth to the right. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
PS. No Zemanta, so I’m just grabbing from Google images. — YUR
I also had to resort to the dreaded ‘backing into’ method for ‘pulsar’! With the planets and outer space in the drawing, I thought ‘pulsar’ was a nice sort of tie-in to today’s puzzle.
Challenging indeed! I had to back into PULSAR too. From the words in the cartoon, I figured (wrongly) that the final answer was POLES APART, but of course that didn’t work. Then, I realized that it must be WORLDS APART, which gave ALS as the circled letters for the fourth word. It was still not trivial to figure out PULSAR, but I did, eventually. 59 seconds overall.
The jumble for PULSAR was good. I went around and around on it, even after backing into it as I moved on to the answer.
Wow! It looks like that jumble stumped many of us, for a while. Today’s was much easier. — YUR
The jumble for PULSAR stumped me, too. I had to back into it, too. Real wow.
There you go! — YUR
I got pulsar but let it go to begin with because I thought it was a watch or something…there used to be some kind of ad and pulsar was in it! But then I got out my handy dandy word speller thingy and it was a word! I thought the same thing Jenn! LL
