TONEF = OFTEN, ROREF = OFFER, GEPTIL = PIGLET, DALIRA = RADIAL — Giving us: ONOFPLEADL
Clue/Question: The downpour at the airport turned the tarmac into a – – –
Answer: FLOOD “PLANE“
(Nice pun! This one feels fresh. Not re-hashed, like yesterday’s. There were no new clue words, and only two of the jumbles are coming up as new. We’ve definitely seen both “tonef” and “geptil” before. It’s always fun seeing “piglet” and “radial”. They’re classic clue words. The answer letter layout presented a nice challenging jumble. I figured the one word – probably the second – had to be PLANE. OOFDL quickly gave me FLOOD . . . and then the pun sank in! Apparently, both floodplain and flood plain are proper. Fun cartoon. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

I had to think just a little for PIGLET. As for the final answer, I figured that the first word should be FLOOD. The remaining letters gave me PLANE.
Vijay,
It’s funny how you saw FLOOD first, but I saw PLANE first. For me, the dominant portion of the cartoon was the airplane, and I guess my thought went first to the quotation marks. We all approach these things a little differently. — YUR
Indeed, UR. I noticed that too. I think the answer is that you are a visual person and I am a verbal one. The word DOWNPOUR suggested FLOOD and I went with that. Indeed, I saw the plane only after I solved the Jumble.
