COLKB  =  BLOCK,  NOREP  =  PRONE,  CABENO  =  BEACON,  NICORI  =  IRONIC   —   Giving us:  OKPOBEON

Clue/Question:  When it came to answering questions about his new novel, the author was an – – –

Answer:  OPEN BOOK

(A Monday morning gimme!  I guess after Saturday’s and Sunday’s Jumbles the guys felt we needed a break!  Toughest weekend pairing in ages.  There were no new clue words, although all of the jumbles came up as new.  I thought the jumbles for both “prone” and “beacon” were fairly challenging.  The answer letter layout was admirable.  Another fine jumble.  The cartoon’s dialog and the clue question were very leading.  I can’t imagine any of you having any trouble getting today’s answer.  Fun cartoon.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

PRONE was quick. I had trouble with BEACON. Had to set it aside for awhile before coming back and then getting it. The cartoon was easy.

At first, I kept reading NOREP backwards, and coming up with the name PERON. That’s why I liked it as a jumble. CABENO kept making me think of BACON! — YUR

I got the four words easy. For the final answer, I knew one of the words was BOOK. So, I typed that in as the first word and then, for a few seconds, all I could see was PEON for the second word. BOOK PEON made no sense. Then, it came to me – OPEN BOOK!
