Clue/Question: She needed new tires for her car, and the tire salesman was ready to – – –
Answer: WHEEL AND DEAL
(I know we like to think they are synonymous, but wheels and tires are not the same thing. The wheel is one of man’s oldest tools, while the tire is a covering for the wheel, which serves a multitude of functions. Tires prolong the life of the wheel, they provide a more comfortable ride, and they hold the road so much better than a bare wheel ever could. Is the distinction necessary for today’s Jumble? No. I just felt like being picky, picky, picky!
There are no new clue words today. However, all of the jumbles are coming up as new! They were dandy jumbles, but I was able to see all four words instantaneously. The answer letter layout was another marvelous jumble, that did not provide a hint to the answer. It was the salesman’s spiel, and the leading way that the clue/question was worded, that made the answer pretty obvious. At least to me. Splendid cartoon. A wonderful effort by our two buddies. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
