Cryptoquote Spoiler – 10/15/15

English: Marie Curie

English: Marie Curie (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

We must believe that we are gifted for something, and that this thing, at whatever cost, must be attained.”   —   Marie Curie

(Kind of a rough translation.  But considering it was conceived in Polish, then spoken in French, then translated to English, makes its roughness more justifiable.  She was a very gifted and driven individual.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

I believe Marie. If we don’t believe we’re good for something, then what’s the purpose for our lives?

That *does* sound rough, probably because of the trendy, current sense of “gifted” to mean “made a gift of” or “given as a present” (as in “my mother gifted me some new pajamas for my birthday”). I’m sure Mme. Curie’s translator meant “gifted” in the older sense “intellectually endowed” or “having special talent.”

I was thinking “talent” too, hal. But, then she says “must be attained”? “Gifted” at least hints at *God given talent*, so that would indicate it’s something you’re born with. Unless she meant more that we must *hone* our talent and pursue a life that utilizes those talents.

But, maybe it’s more like Seyi said. We just have to believe we’re good for something. More of keeping a positive attitude.

I guess it’s open for interpretation.
