Answer:  CRIME WAS ON THE RISE

(Wow!  A seventeen letter answer!  That’s about as long as they get.  Initially, I didn’t have a clue as to what the answer might be.  But, I guessed – fairly accurately – that the middle words were:  WAS IN THE.  This left me with OERMCERSI.  Out of that I saw CRIME.  Which left me with OERS.  From there I realized that IN should be ON, and that would give me RISE.  None of the clue words were new today, but all of the jumbles came up as new, for me.  The only one that stumped me for a bit was “stimbu”.  But, I’m really glad that I was able to get it, because I don’t think I could have possibly backed into it, based on what it took me to get the answer.  So, I’d have to say that the answer letter layout was beautifully cryptic.  The cartoon was great.  It DID contain some clues to the answer . . . I just wasn’t picking up on them.  Some days are like that.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

I’m usually pretty good at jumble, but this one stumped me (that’s why I’m here for the answer 🙂 ). I also had difficulty with “submit” (compound words can be my nemesis).

This is a great site, I’ll have to bookmark it. 🙂

I rate this difficult!!! I had was, but had brought down a couple of transposed letters, which made this puzzler even more difficult. Even after I found the error of my way, I had to work on this bugger!!! Great Sunday puzzler!!! Thank you guyz.
