Answer: DOWN IN THE DUMPS
(Down in the dumps is an understatement for me today. My precious and beautiful Ginger very suddenly took ill and died on us last night. The Vet believes it was due to a cancerous mass she detected through some X-rays. She was to have an ultra-sound this morning, but she got progressively worse overnight and went into respiratory arrest around 4:00 AM. We had all – unofficially – said goodbye to her last night, but I think I may have been the only who realized it at the time. She wasn’t yet 11, but the Vet said Goldens are very susceptible to certain cancers from 10 on. We are in a state of shock, and needless to say heartbroken. She was the most special dog any of us have ever known. Sweet and loving, with intuitive empathy, and she stayed the playful puppy until the day she died. That is the main reason we’re all in shock. If she knew she was sick, she certainly hid it from all of us. A great loss to my entire family. She wasn’t my sole reason for living, but she was very high on a very short list. So much of my life’s routine was built around her. I will always keep her in my heart.
