Answer:  LAND A NEW JOB

(This should have been as clear as the nose on my face, but I did not see it for a while.  I did know that one of the words was A!  Pure genius!  But, I was thinking that the first word was either DOWN or BLOW.  Of course those words didn’t leave me much to work with.  Eventually, my pea-brain said:  Hey!  Wait a minute.  There’s a J out there!  How many relevant words would be using a J?  So, I smacked my forehead, and figured out JOB.  Remember, I still knew the single letter word was A.  So, I took EDLWNNA and was finally able to see LAND and NEW.  No.  I’m not too proud to admit it when I’m not on my A game.

There were no new clue words today, but three of the jumbles came up as new, for me.  We have definitely seen “beata” before.  I have known one Beata in my lifetime.  I have to credit the answer letter layout with keeping me in the dark for a while.  It was a beautifully cryptic jumble.  And, I didn’t find anything obvious about it.  Fine cartoon.  Clearly, the jet airplane had landed, but apparently that wasn’t enough of a clue for me.  Do you think today’s Jumble was designed to be a little less obvious?  Or, do you think it was just me?  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
