Visual Description: Crooked guide.
LIHEW = WHILE, DEERL = ELDER, NAYFIM = INFAMY, MOACTT = TOMCAT — Giving us: WLLEIFO
Clue/Question: The pickpocket at the bottom of the Grand Canyon was a – – –
Answer: LOWLIFE
(It’s not often that we get a compound word as the answer! We also have a new clue word today, in “tomcat”. Another compound word. I always wonder, what is the criteria for a compound word? Usually, they are two small words, with the first describing the second, somehow. Who gets to decide to remove the space and make them into one word??? It all seems fairly subjective. Hmm. All of today’s jumbles came up as new. The answer letter layout was nicely cryptic. I had to think to come up with the answer. Maybe not long and hard, but I did have to think. Nice, scenic cartoon! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
