GYRUB = RUGBY, AGEMO = OMEGA, RATYRO = ROTARY, TOPYST = SPOTTY — Giving us: ROARYPT
Clue/Question: When the macaws put on a play, it was a – – –
Answer: “PARROTY“
(Now, that is one stinky pun! But, I love it. We actually have a new clue word today, in “rotary”. This needs to be added to the ralis95 clue word database! I can only verify the use of the jumble for “omega” being used before. The others appear to be new. The answer letter layout was wonderful. And, the cartoon was fantastic. Very entertaining. An all-around splendid Jumble. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

Uncllerave – Great site and I enjoy visiting it to check on new jumble words. FYI “ROTARY” was used before. It was used in a famous Mother’s Day Jumble on May 8, 2011. What made this Sunday Jumble so different was that five of the six words were new words, at least as far as my database records are concerned. In that Jumble I also have COLONY, COWBOY, BUFFET and PLIGHT as new.
I started doing the Jumbles while conducting wind tunnel tests for a local aerospace company, often at NASA Ames in California. There are slow periods during such testing and so doing the puzzle became a given!
When I bought an Apple IIgs back in the late eighties, I was heavily into doing Jumbles and wrote a program for that machine. At that time I started a library of Jumble words which got to about 2,000 words when I moved to a Mac. Being busy at the time, I wrote a quick copy of the program in Python on the Mac, and have been following the Jumble since. I’m now up to 2,878 words. The Ralis95 database correlates with the one I’ve put together quite closely, though he has more, I believe.
One interesting bit I noticed was that I was given a Jumble puzzle book, and noticed it contained a lot of words that at the time hadn’t been used in the daily puzzle printed in the newspaper. I decided not to add them to my database, but keep only the words that show up in the daily puzzle.
How did I know about the 5/8/2011 puzzle. I knew ROTARY was added between the 5th and 10th, as I add date comments occasionally. So I used your Unclerave site and went back to that period – there it was!
Getting long winded here, but just let me say I’m a fan of your site!

Bob Eckweiler,
Wow, Bob! What a catch! Are you friends with ralis95? Sounds like you might be. I’m not 100% sure of when ralis95 started following this blog, but I do know that he doesn’t get the Sunday Jumble, and he says that he may have missed some new words that came from Sunday Jumbles. I think he now makes a point of checking my email notifications for Sundays, just to make sure he doesn’t miss out on new words. According to the latest version of the database, that I have, we ARE missing ROTARY, COLONY and COWBOY! PLIGHT and BUFFET have somehow found their way since Mother’s Day 2011. Thanks for the great story, and for being a fan of Uncle Rave’s Wordy Weblog! Hope to hear from you again.
Regards,
