Answer:  PUNDAY MORNING

(Punday, Punday . . . so good to me.  Punday morning, it was all I hoped it would be-e-e!  I was about having a stroke, trying to come up with a dog related answer!  This wasn’t a gimme, by any means.  The answer letter layout did an excellent job hiding the answer.  At first I saw PUNNY, but that’s only 5 letters, so that didn’t work.  Finally, after half a day of work, I took another look at it, and saw the word MONDAY.  Hey, that fit!  Now, all I had to do was rearrange NNPGUIR.  I got PRUNING.  So, the answer was “MONDAY” PRUNING.  But, what’s “pruning” got to do with anything?  And why would “Monday” be in quotation marks???  “Monday” is much funnier as “PUNDAY”, so then I looked at NNGOMIR, and quickly realized it was MORNING.  No growling.  No yelping.  No Dog Day Afternoon.

We have a new clue word today, in “bunny”!  Of all words!  How did they go this long without using “bunny”?  LOL.  It gives ralis95 something different to do.  It looks like all of the jumbles were new, too.  The letter groupings in the clue words made it much easier for yer uncle.  It looks like the boys have a sweet deal.  Wherever they are, it’s bring your dog to work day!  My big baby would love that!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

This one bested me – I made the second word PUNNING and then, of course, couldn’t make the first word work.

I’ll point out that REMIDA also decodes into the uncommon but well-defined word MERIDA, a shade of light tan.

I’ll take your word on MERIDA, Art. This one had me this morning. I was going to put it out there for all the nieces and nephews to solve. But, then I saw the answer this afternoon! This is the toughest one in a good while.

Got the clue words pretty quickly and then hit a total brick wall! All those letters with a “” word to boot.

Saw PUNNY too,Unc, but then nothing else made sense. I started diagramming the clue letters and didn’t have much luck so starting working with ING words…ding, ding, ding — MORNING. But, since I was still rather hooked on PUNNY and now one of my Ns was missing if MORNING was correct, I was stuck again. Came back to the puzzler and then saw DAY….then PUNDAY! What a Monday Jumbler guyz! Thank you. LL

I’m glad GREAT MINDS think alike, Unc Rave. I couldn’t get past MONDAY PRUNING for a while, and then the dogs misdirected me. We are now forewarned to look for a pun of each day of the week … How do kids remember when to buy bubble gum? Because it’s CHEWS DAY? Birdwatchers always hold their meetings on WRENS DAY? The possibilities are im-pun-derable!

3400 queries, yesterday, indicates that this one wasn’t easy! The boys deserve a hand for this one!

hal. When do Nordic types tend to get hammered? THOR’S DAY! When do “good” Catholics avoid meat? Fish FRY-DAY!

Who’s got something for the last two???

That’s a load of queries, Unc Rave. Lots of Jumblers out there! When do mythological goats like to play? SATYR-DAY!

I was thinking…HER WEEKEND DIDN’T GET OFF TO GOOD START WHEN HER BOYFRIEND BROKE UP WITH HER ON — “SAD-HER-DAY” (or “SADDER-DAY”).

Y’all are all great! It’s been a grand day in Puzzler-ville!!

My second word was “punning”–no wonder I couldn’t figure it out!

Yup. Ya can’t do anything with DAYMOR! — YUR

Hoyt! If you pen one for the jilted girlfriend, I’d go with “SADDER-DAY”. Unless you made it HER BIRTHDAY WEEKEND. Then “SAD-HER-DAY” might work!

Found this one very tough to solve. I didn’t know there was such a word as punday! Didn’t solve this so I am glad that I was able to Google the answer!

  17. 17 unclerave March 10, 2015 at 4:55 pm

    rhbump67,

It’s not a real word. It’s just a hybrid word of what Jumble answers are – puns, and the first day of the work week – Monday. You’ll find many of the answers are these made up, or intentionally misspelled, puns! — YUR 🙂

Thanks, unclerave! I was thinking it had to be a real word used in a funny way. Learning, always learning!
