Clue/Question: When the couple went scuba diving on Valentine’s Day, there was – – –
Answer: DEEP AFFECTION
(Ooh! Being eaten alive, by a cold-blooded killing machine. Not the way yer dear ol’ uncle wants to go out! I’d much rather die in bed, thank you. Either in the saddle, or in a nice dream. After that they could feed my carcass to the sharks, for all I care. Isn’t this pleasant Valentine’s Day talk!?! LOL!
There were no new clue words today, but three of the four jumbles appear to be new. I could only confirm that we’ve seen “denmat” before. I thought the jumble for “poise” was superb. The answer letter layout was beautifully cryptic. It took me a few minutes to figure out the answer. The cartoon was terrific, with a nice twist on the classic sinking sailboat on the horizon. Now, we see where that sailboat ended up. I’m guessing that Dave and Claire Hoyt really do enjoy scuba diving? Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

Oh Unc! What a romantic. Great V-day puzzler! Took me some time on the answer too. I had deep, but, unfortunately, was spelling it wrong. That in turn goobered me up when trying to solve the rest of the puzzler. Nonetheless, as always, enjoyed my daily jumbler play.
Please clarify your comment about sinking sailboat.
Mark,
The majority of the time that the Jumble cartoon involves any kind of boat, or any kind of seascape or lake-scape, there is a small sinking sailboat on the horizon. Saturday’s Jumble showed what looked to be a sunken sailboat on an underwater reef, in the background. To my knowledge, that is the first time that has been done.
