English: A California surfer. Santa Cruz and the surrounding Northern California coastline is a popular surfing destination; however, the year-round low temperature of the ocean in that region (averaging 57ºF/14ºC) necessitates the use of wetsuits. Answer:  BEACHY KEEN

(Ohhh!  Great pun!  A little play on peachy keen.  We have a new clue word today!  Somebody alert the big boss-man, ralis95.  His world famous clue word database needs updating.  And, that word is:  “cinder”.  And, to think that I initially wrote down “rinced”!  It was one of those days.  I even wrote down “elegal” for “allege”.  I think I was influenced by how them Southern boys pronounce illegal.  Anyway.  All of the jumbles came up as new, for me.  The answer letter layout gave nothing away.  Nice job, Mr. Hoyt.  The cartoon makes me long for a tropical isle.  It was 4 degrees when I woke up this morning!  We were graced with the classic sinking sailboat on the horizon, and Mr. Knurek even snuck in a bonus clue.  The surfer in the foreground is eating . . . a peach!  Without it, I don’t if I would have figured out the answer.  We’ll never know.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Cinder and allege gave me fits! I had to use the unjumbler to get cinder but I had allege written down but I didn’t think it was right. Got the answer right away before any of the clue words.

Did you pick up on it from the guy eating the peach, Joe? Yesterday’s queries were the most since 12/18/14, mainly because of that Jumble answer – HIGH “KOALA-TY”. Yesterday, it looks like people were looking for the previous day’s answer – SWEET SPOTS – as well as yesterday’s Jumble Spoiler. And, the Cryptoquote for yesterday was also pretty tough. — YUR

Allege gave me fits too…I wanted it to be ‘legal.’ Had to mess with both allege and cinder. Cinder, you don’t hear that too much anymore! And in the paper these days it is all about alleged this and alleged that!

    Good puzzling day! LL

No. the peach thing had nothing to do with it. I am a beach guy and I dig beachy keen!

I can appreciate being a beach guy, Joe. But, I don’t quite get the beachy keen, except as a pun to peachy keen. But, if you dig it that’s good enough for me. — YUR
