English: A California surfer. Santa Cruz and the surrounding Northern California coastline is a popular surfing destination; however, the year-round low temperature of the ocean in that region (averaging 57ºF/14ºC) necessitates the use of wetsuits. Answer:  BEACHY KEEN

(Ohhh!  Great pun!  A little play on peachy keen.  We have a new clue word today!  Somebody alert the big boss-man, ralis95.  His world famous clue word database needs updating.  And, that word is:  “cinder”.  And, to think that I initially wrote down “rinced”!  It was one of those days.  I even wrote down “elegal” for “allege”.  I think I was influenced by how them Southern boys pronounce illegal.  Anyway.  All of the jumbles came up as new, for me.  The answer letter layout gave nothing away.  Nice job, Mr. Hoyt.  The cartoon makes me long for a tropical isle.  It was 4 degrees when I woke up this morning!  We were graced with the classic sinking sailboat on the horizon, and Mr. Knurek even snuck in a bonus clue.  The surfer in the foreground is eating . . . a peach!  Without it, I don’t if I would have figured out the answer.  We’ll never know.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
