Answer:  MISSEDSTEAK

(I don’t think there is any way possible for me to become a vegetarian.  I do love my veggies, but I could never give up meat.  We had a new word today, in “skies”.  Oh, ralis95!  The jumble really threw me.  I had to back into it.  And, I really didn’t have the entire answer for a while.  At first I was going with:  ___MIS-STEAK, and all that told me was that I needed the K.  “Skies” came to me, but it didn’t look right for a while.  But, after adding the SKE to the answer letters it finally came to me.  I wasn’t thinking past tense though.  Great answer letter layout, and a fine cartoon.  Happy first night of Hanukkah, friends.  Be well and do good.)   —   YUR
