“I don’t pay good wages because I have a lot of money; I have a lot of money because I pay good wages.” — Robert Bosch
(Too bad more business owners do not have this attitude. We’re always told about “the bottom line” and “shareholders’ return on equity”, and various blather, but it’s the structure of the fat-cats’ compensation that is paramount these days. And, then they give you further blather about the “limited talent pool” for these positions and paying them “what the market will bear”. All good ol’ boy smoke and mirrors that too many of us just accept. Try to invest in more socially responsible businesses, friends. Be well and do good.) — YUR
That is a remarkably progressive sentiment and obviously a voice from a different era! A hundred years later – today! – a person saying such a thing would get run right out of the boardroom of a big box retailer based in Arkansas, a fast-food hamburger chain based in Illinois, and all the rest. It is really sad.
