Answer:  “HAIRBRAINED“ IDEA

(I almost forgot the quotation marks, and was surprised to see that WordPress did not like the spelling!  I found out the correct spelling is harebrained, and it means having no more sense than a hare.  I never really gave the word much thought before, it’s just such a part of idiomatic speech.  We had one new clue word today, in “coarse”.  Hoyt has been on fire lately.  He’s really keeping ralis95 on his toes.  A bunch of the jumblings are new.  The answer letter layout is marvelously cryptic.  No giveaways.  Fantastic cartoon, too.  I don’t know if it’s actually supposed to be Hoyt, or not, but I generally assume it is when Jeff draws a baldy.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
