Answer:  GAVE HER A RING

(On the telly?  Did he ring her up???  Pip pip!  Cheerio!  Bob’s yer uncle!  and, all that rot!  There were no new clue words today, but all the clue words were well-jumbled.  None gave me pause though.  I went straight down the line, without missing a beat.  The answer letter layout was okay.  I would’ve swapped “glade” and “prove”, but that’s just me.  The cartoon was kind of reminiscent of Pillow Talk, with the split-screen business.  This couple must be a little bit older.  Because, nowadays all the kids use Skype and Facetime, so they can actually see each other, in their long distance relationships.  Plus they can text each other, and talk long distance anytime of day, without it costing an arm and a leg.  Back in my courtin’ days, if the girl lived in any different area code, I’d have to call her after 11:00 PM, when the rates went down, substantially.  Otherwise, I just couldn’t afford to call them.  Long distance relationships were much harder to maintain in those days.  Very often they failed because of the distance and cost.  Today, the success rates are much higher.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
