He writes so well, he makes me feel like putting my quill back in my goose.”   —   Fred Allen

(I suspected the Q was the E, and the E was the L early on, which led me to the author being Fred Allen.  But still, this was not an easy solve.  Such a funny little quote though, from someone from the 20th Century!  Some versions of the quote replace the “my”s with “the”s.  The “my”s give it kind of a risque ring to it.  Fred Allen was a great radio comedian.  He sometimes would dress to look the fool, but he was actually quite intelligent..  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

(Nice bunch of co-workers!  Again, there were no new clue words with this Jumble, but some of the jumblings were.  And, a few of them were fairly challenging.  I liked “geyser” because the jumble already looks like a real word . . . if you spell it wrong.  And, “accent” is another one of those words that spells out alphabetically.  The answer letter layout was beautifully cryptic.  I guess for The Sunday Jumble it would be . . . the seventh jumble.  I can see some of you having some trouble getting this.  The cartoon does a good job of showing a happy work place.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.”   —   Robert A. Heinlein

(Great writer, with some great quotes.  I love this one:  “Never underestimate the power of human stupidity.”  This is like the dark side to all my general positivity!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Joe Niekro

(I wonder if there are currently any brother pitchers in the major leagues?  Back when I was a kid, there were the Niekro brothers, Joe and Phil.  They were entertaining because they both could throw the knuckleball, although Phil was better known for it.  They both had long and productive careers, 22 and 24 years, respectively.  I also remember the Perry brothers, Jim and Gaylord.  They both had storied careers, as well.  There have been plenty of others, but they were either long before me, or one of them was much more dominant, and longer lasting, than the other.  There are loads of other brothers in baseball, playing other positions.  The Upton brothers even play for the same team!

There were no new clue words, today.  But, all of the jumbling appeared to be new, to me.  “Glory” is one of those words that nicely spells out in alphabetical order.  None of them gave me any trouble.  The answer letter layout worked well.  Nothing obvious about it.  Fun cartoon.  Nothing too fancy for a Monday.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
