(Ah! Legislating tolerance. Good luck with that! Human nature is . . . what it is. Intellectually, we all – should – strive for mutual acceptance, but we are such emotional creatures, with just so much history . . . and tradition to overcome. Hopefully, we’ll all get there . . . eventually. I just don’t put too much stock into political correctness and banning language. Those are symptomatic treatments only. We need to do more to address the underlying causes: fear and ignorance. Genetically, we are like 99.95 to 99.96% alike, racially. Why go crazy over 0.4 to 0.5%? Life is too short, and all we have is each other. I will now step off of the bully pulpit and talk about the merits of today’s Jumble! Who said: “Thank God!” ??? 😉
All of today’s jumbling was new, to me, and fairly challenging. Nothing I had to write out, or back into, but good stuff. I can’t remember when we last saw “gentry”. Both “token” and “douse” come up occasionally. But, we have a new word in “tirade”. You guys might be used to my frequent tirades, by now, but we’ve never had it as a clue word before. So, our friend, ralis95, will have to update his clue word database! The answer letter layout was nicely cryptic. No giveaways. The answer makes for a good pun. And, the cartoon was a lot of fun.
