Clue/Question: The architect couldn’t stay for the meeting because he – – –
Answer: HAD PLANS
(It didn’t take a genius to figure this one out. All the clue words were old favorites, though they were jumbled very well. The answer letter layout was another good jumble. The cartoon and the clue/question went a long way in setting up the relatively short answer. Nice way to ease into the work week. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
It did take a genius to figure this one out!!! The third word unscrambled was “FONDLY”. The puzzle needed the word “SHRIMP” as the third word to get the cartoon phrase “HAD PLANS”. Sorry, but SOMEBODY SCREWED UP!!!!! I need a newspaper or syndicate printed retraction.
It’s so odd. Another person e-mailed me this morning saying there was a problem with the answers in a newspaper. The puzzle checks out perfectly on this end and matches what we posted. It looks like a newspaper changed something. I’d love to know what newspaper “Anonymous” plays the Jumble in so we can track this down.
Good puzzler! Our paper had the puzzler correct today. It has in the past had the circles in the wrong place in the puzzler jumbled clue words, but not this time. And I checked again to make sure that I had not been my dyslexic self and brought down the wrong letters that happened to make the right answer. So, we were good today. LL
