Answer: “PET–AGREE“
(Even I will admit that this is a real howler of a pun! BUT, it’s got dogs in it! Man’s best friend. I liked how all the clue words were jumbled, but especially “tedium” and “apathy”. Real nifty job on the answer letter layout too. I can see the word “agree” written backwards in it, now, but I didn’t notice that when I was solving it. Any cartoon with dogs is always cool with me. And, I’m glad to see that the couple are adopting a dog, as opposed buying one. There should be some kind of moratorium on dog sales, until all the homeless pups are adopted. Then the industry should be more strictly regulated. There is far too much over-breeding and inbreeding. And, among other things, they need to put a stop to these boutique cross-breeds. Dogs should not be used as accessories, or conversation pieces! Fads fade, and people who buy them for these kind of reasons can be both fickle and easily bored. It’s not fair to these loving and trusting animals. Be well . . . adopt . . . and do good, friends.) — YUR
PS. Don’t be so set on purebreds, too. A good “mutt” is generally smarter, healthier, and more loyal than a lot of your purebreds. — YUR
