Visual Description: One of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World!
RAPOE = OPERA, PYGPU = GUPPY, FEDSUE = DEFUSE, GARFOE = FORAGE — Giving us: ORGUESOG
Clue/Question: Their view of the Grand Canyon was – – –
Answer: “GORGE–OUS“
(Perfect pun! All the jumbling was fantastic today. A new jumbling of “opera” and of “forage”, I think. And, we have a new clue word in “defuse”. Hoyt is really keeping ralis95 busy lately! The answer letter layout was magnificent. Nothing given away. And of course, Knurek’s cartoon was simply . . . gorgeous! It was very eye catching. I almost looked at the cartoon prior to the clue words, but I held strong. Some day I will see the Grand Canyon, up close and personal. Some day. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
But “Pareto” is a legitimate word for the first scramble
It would, if there were a T in the jumble, Anne. But, there is no T. If your newspaper ran it as a six-letter jumble with a T, then that was a mistake. — YUR 🙂
I have been working on defuse for quite some time!!!!! Finally checked out the cartoon and got the answer and backing into defuse still took lots of thought! By goodness guyz, you have to be totally spent after coming up with the last week or so of puzzlers. Well done!!!! PS: I haven’t seen the star rating area in several puzzles.
Oops, having said that, the stars are at the top of the page. Put I promise they were not a minute ago! Time for lights out.
Hey, LindaLee! I really don’t pay much attention to the star rating thing. I think it’s like the “Like” feature, and you readers are the one to give a rating. Maybe you already knew that, and you gave this one a 4 Star rating? I don’t know.
I think the new words always have the potential to be a challenge to those of us who play this daily. I think our brains are more likely to recognize a tried and true clue word, even when the jumbling is new, than with a well jumbled *new* clue word. That’s my half-baked theory of the day, and I’m sticking with it! — YUR 🙂
