Clue/Question: The fancy new airline had – – –
Answer: I’ve got NOTHING, folks! ***HIGH STANDARDS***
(Wow! That was fast! Five answers right away. I must be losing it, folks. My low brow, domestic beer wit couldn’t conceive the HIGH STANDARDS. Oh, yeah. No new clue words. The answer letter layout threw me for a loop. And, the cartoon does set it up nicely. I just couldn’t see it. Thank you, Patrick, Doris, Pat, Auntie Lyn and Frank Rickard. Maybe Auntie Lyn should take over for Uncle Rave? Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
(For the first word I tried HARD, HAND and SIGN. I guess I could try RASH and HASH and maybe THIS, but I am just not getting IT today. Maybe one of the circles is wrong in my newspaper? I don’t know. I see Bono is one of the passengers, and some other rich, old people, including Jeff Knurek – maybe – but with only three vowels I am just grasping at straws. I’m not picking up any “bonus clue” either. They have stumped yer uncle! Maybe this is a sign that I should retire. Sorry, folks. I’ve let you down.) — YUR

Stumped me too. It’s enough to turn a mild-mannered soul into a serial killer.

Warms my heart to know that I was not alone, Art! I was totally lost. — YUR
The answer is high standards.
Got it!!!! Almost threw in the towel, but hung in there. Yes, so few vowels, so many As. Was looking for a “ing” ending. Decided that was a bust. Did not come up with “high” until I did a Boggle grid to see if I could find more four letter words. Then somehow standards came…..YIKES!! I think we need to take the guyz Wheaties away!!!! But then, it is fun working for the answer. Unc! I was almost there. High saved me. Super Grand puzzler!!!!! I imagine that the blog had a large number of hits!
You are more of a trooper than me, LindaLee! If my idiot savant does not kick in, then I throw the towel in! A small part of it is the pressure of getting SOMETHING up on the blog, but the rest of it is just a general brain fart, or blind spot, or maybe even a . . . senior moment! Hey, whadayagonnado? It’s not the first time I’ve stumbled, and it won’t be the last. “Ya gotta keep on truckin’!”
Yes. It was almost as busy as the Wiseguy of the Day contest! We’ve seen a nice run of above average days! — YUR 🙂
Is there help with 2/25/14 yet?
BRNBSURUM…jUST can’t seem to get this one! HELP!!
Sorry about the delay, Bridget! I thought some might have a problem with this one. Some purists might insist the answer should have been “NUMB-BRRRS” or maybe simply “NUMB-BRRS”. Hey! I don’t write these, I only solve ’em. I can’t even guarantee that the answer I posted is the correct one. — YUR 🙂
