(Nothing funny about broken bones! Better it an arm than a leg though, I guess. With a broken arm you don’t lose any mobility, at least. No new clue words today, but the usual great jumbling. The answer letter layout was very good too. I trust that most of you have a decent working knowledge of human anatomy! The cartoon was fun. Some folk are totally freaked out by clowns. The fear usually starts in childhood, and then lasts through their adult lives. I guess there is a kind of creepy aspect to clowns. They are very unnatural looking. But, that never bothered me. I always liked Emmett Kelly Jr.‘s bit with the broom and the spotlight. Very clever. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
Actually, a person can die of a broken leg- blood clots are sent out and do bad things… happened to my brother years ago. So more than mobility is a problem with legs. Just fyi
Clowns…not my favorite. A clown doll somewhere in some movie freaked me out. Nice puzzler. Took a minute on humerus…kept spelling it wrong. Happy Monday!
KH,
Yeah. I broke my leg in Jan, 2011. My biggest concern, in March, after the cast came off and I was in a boot again, was when I flew out to L.A. I was worried about the possibility of a blood clot. Sorry to hear about your brother.
LL,
Was it the “Evil” Chuckie??? — YUR
I agree, a broken bone is no laughing matter, but the klang of HUMERUS with HUMOROUS had to be exploited by Jumble sooner or later. I think we’ve already had the FUNNY BONE a couple of times …
Kathy, I am so sorry about your brother. And, I did not know this. Thank you so much for posting.
Nope, it was not Chuckie…I think it was more like a ventriloquist’s puppet on maybe the Twilight Zone. Anyway, certainly cannot take Chuckie! Before my husband and I got married, I’d stay in his son’s room when visiting. He had a clown doll in there (probably Chuckie)…I made him hide it–outside the room. Dang thing freaked me out. It watches you! 🙂 LL
Kathy, I’m so very sorry about your brother. jenn
Kathy, I’m sorry to hear that about your brother. I broke my 5th metatarsal 3 years ago. The ER said it should be casted, but my orthopedic doctor would not because of that exact problem of clots.
I’m not afraid of clowns, but I never found them funny, nor did I ever really enjoy the circus as a kid. That said, ROUND sure did make me crazy. I’ve struggled with the vowel combinations lately. Be careful shoveling that snow, YUR!
I had to peek at the first letter in order to get the solution. Guess I forgot my human anatomy. And never thought about the relationship between “funny bone” and “humerus”. This all put me in mind of the game “Operation”. That game could have been educational if they had used actual bone names.
