Clue/Question:  Sometimes, painting in the wintertime requires a – – –

Answer:  SECOND COAT

(Every paint I’ve ever used said to not apply if the temperature was below 50° F.  Of course they are coming out with new products all the time, so you never say never!  I just consulted the hard copy ralis95 clue word database, dated 12/31/13, and have confirmed that “glossy” is a new clue word!  The other clue words were jumbled just as nicely though.  The answer letter layout was fantastic.  Nothing given away there.  Great cartoon.  Just a little weird.  Be well and do good, friends.)   – – –   YUR

PS.  I’m liking the Seattle Seahawks in tomorrow’s NFC Championship Game.  A tough defense, homefield advantage and a balanced offense led by Marshawn Lynch‘s running should be able to handle Kaepernick and his bunch of fellow hot-doggers.  Looking for a relatively low scoring game.

The AFC Championship Game is a tougher call for me.  I’m rooting for Denver, but I’m not sure their defense is up to stopping LeGarrette Blount.  He is starting to remind me of Earl Campbell.  He’s like a run-away freight train.  Plus, there is no discounting Brady’s talent, and that Belichick is an evil genius.  I’m just hoping Peyton can put up one more TD than the hated Pats.  Should be a high scoring game.

The 12th Man should should be a factor for both of the teams I’m rooting for.   —   YUR

Thumbs up to a Broncos and Seahawks win! Also correct about Bellicheck being an evil genius. He’s so good at the chess match that is football, but needs to go buy a personality at Kroger’s and ditch the appearance of occasional bad sportsmanship/ cheating. Pats will always find a way to win, even if it is due to the other team making a bonehead mistake or the refs blowing calls or non-calls. And, Brady is one of the best. But, other than his opponents, how can anyone not root for Peyton?? Next game- How can anyone root against the Seahawks with Derrick Coleman’s determination/ inspirational story! Although, wondering how much it will hurt that their wide receiver Harvin is out with a concussion. … PS, when Indy had the Super Bowl, my 17 year-old daughter was in line at Noodles downtown, and told the guy in line behind her how much she liked his shirt. They chit-chatted a little bit. Then she noticed people wanting his autograph. She asked who he was, and he replied, ‘Oh, I’m nobody’. Turns out it was Earl Campbell. What a refreshing change from the showboating bragging athletes!

GREAT story, Jenn! Even as a Steelers fan I had the utmost respect and admiration for Earl Campbell. He was the Archie Manning of running backs. Not that Houston was as bad as New Orleans when Manning was there, but it was pretty much all Earl.

I never liked Harvin that much, and I never understood why the Seahawks would waste their time with this all too delicate flower.

Pats couldn’t beat the Giants a few years ago. They don’t have their dominant Tight Ends, and their WRs are on the small side. Dobson has size, but he’s been gimpy and he’s a rookie. Denver’s defense should be up to the task, though it would be nice to have Vonnie playing.

I’m pulling for the Seahawks tomorrow!! Grand puzzler. I wondered about painting in the cold, and it looked cold! I’ve always heard that we should not do too. But, you bring up a good point about new products. Had not thought about that.
