Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come

It’s the one night of the year when we all act a little nicer, we smile a little easier, we cheer a little more.”   —   Frank Cross (“Scrooged“)

(This one of my favorite Bill Murray movies!  One of MY favorite lines – fairly late in the movie – is when Frank is in the elevator with the “real” Ghost of Christmas Yet-to-Come, but he thinks it’s an actor playing the part of Christmas Yet-to-Come, who he had met in the same elevator a little earlier.  The Ghost bumps into Frank from behind, and Frank says: “back off man,it may work with the girls, but not me.”  Hilarious!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Answer:  EARLY RISERS

(Decent pun.  Some double meaning going on there.  Great clue word jumbling!  And, we had two new clue words today, in “tally” and “squish”.  More work for ralis95!  The answer letter layout was a thing of beauty.  Nothing given away there.  And, a very cheery cartoon.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Visual Description:  Ancient Greek agora.

NOUFED  =  FONDUE,  LECINY  =  NICELY,  VODERU  =  DEVOUR,  LIFTEL  =  FILLET,  GOLANO  =  LAGOON,  RUQASE  =  SQUARE   —   Giving us:  FOCEEURFTONSR

Clue/Question:  The seller of the abacus priced it at 1000 Drachmas and wasn’t taking – – –

Answer:  COUNTER OFFERS

(No new clue words today – Sunday – but some excellent jumblings!  I found “fondue” – in the words of LindaLee – to be positively devious!  I had to back into it!  I also really enjoyed the jumblings of “devour” and “lagoon”, but they were all great.  The answer letter layout was really well done.  Even without the leading FO, I figured the second word was going to be OFFERS, which then led me to COUNTER.  The cartoon has a bit of a bonus clue, because the seller is standing behind a counter.  Great cartoon!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
