(Loved the stinky pun!  But, I’ve got to call a foot-foul on the first clue word!  You cannot make a five letter word by adding an S to a four letter word.  It ain’t kosher, Bill.  It’s against the Law of the Jumble!  Just goes to show how tricky it is to put a by-the-book Jumble together.  You could have used the word SCRUM, and just changed the circles.  The other three clue words were jumbled nicely.  And, the answer letter layout was sweet!  Definitely captured the spirit of the Jumble in the cartoon, though.  A fine effort, indeed.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

DUCTS was given a special guest pass. Because without it, you wouldn’t get the bonus humor of: DUCTS ALLOW ZOMBIES ACCESS! Clean your ducts! Bill’s wife is a huge Jumble addict. He’s pretty popular at home today.

I have been waiting all day for the blog!!!!

First, I love Fox Trot. Was so sad when it went to Sunday only, but was so happy that at least we have it on Sunday!

I got the puzzle right! I was not quite sure. Took a bit of time on zombie and access, but the first word had me puzzled. Knew plurals were a no-no (unwritten??), but thought that our guest puzzler might not know. So, after going for every unjumbling imaginable I hit the internet for unjumbling help …. the only word that comes up when you put the letters in an unjumble site is ducts, so, it’s the right word. On the answer I saw loss right away, but didn’t see another “word.” So I found class and thought it was class something. Then I went back to loss, studied the puzzle some more, thought about the cartoon….voila! Grand puzzler!! Looking so forward to tomorrow!

I cut him some slack and let him use the plural because he really wanted the four words together to say DUCTS ALLOW ZOMBIE ACCESS.

I totally agree about the use of the plural, but like your four words together sentence

Sounds like Bill was given two passes! 1. Was the plural word. 2. Was being allowed to play the four clue words into a little sentence. When this was suggested before, Hoyt said this conflicted with another of his word games. Hmm. Seems like membership – definitely – HAS its privileges!

Oh man, I was so intent on unjumbling and figuring out the puzzle I totally missed “Ducts allow zombies access.” Vera good! LL

I am still new here but I thought this one would generate a good deal of attention. First, it’s so cool having these guests this week. Have there been other times that this has happened? Second, I was also thrown off
by ducts. It did not occur to me that it might be plural (remember that word) for a long time. Lastly, based on the 3 other words I thought the first word was CLASS which was wrong of course. After finally getting DUCTS I was really confused until I gave up on CLASS. After trying LOSS as the second word it still took time to solve. I was a math geek in school and I think that helped but I wondered how many people may have figured out the clue words but not the solution.

It actually did, McDuck! Yesterday’s Views were nearly double Tuesday’s, and Tuesday’s were up about 15% from Monday. Jeff has done some series of comic strip themed Jumbles, but as far as I know this is the first time that they have featured guest creators. And, its a natural fit for them to be fellow cartoonists. I fled from mathematics directly after taking Algebra for a second time. (that time I passed it) Now, I regret doing that. My love of words and wordplay directed me to the answer. Whenever you see the quotation marks start thinking of some kind of play on words. Especially if there is a hyphen!

Ducts allow zombie access. Who knew? Its like zombies will try to get in anyway they can, even through the ventilation ducts.
