Visual Description: Nothing to do with muscles/mussels!
ZISEE = SEIZE, DARNB = BRAND, FOECEF = COFFEE, NUFSUG = FUNGUS — Giving us: SIANOENGS
Clue/Question: The beach café was famous for its . . .
Answer: SEA–SONING
(Another good misdirection puzzle! The cartoon shows muscle-bound servers, carrying trays of mussels, but they have little to do with the answer. The big clue is what the server says about the blend of spices. I can see some getting a little tripped up on this one. The jumbling was great. I especially liked “coffee”, and I hesitated on “seize” because I was thinking about that I before E accept after C business, so I kind of half backed into it. Normally, I wouldn’t even hesitate with this word, but when it’s jumbled I sometimes second guess myself. I thought the answer letter layout was pretty super. The cartoon was another keeper. You had a couple of babes, some muscle-heads, a couple of pirates and the classic sinking sailboat on the horizon. Great Monday Jumble! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

Funny story… Yes, the original cartoon and answer was MUSCLES. It was deemed too sexist…So, change the answer, add a couple of pirates and…. you get SEA-SONING. Editors. Whatchagoingtodo?
DANG it! This WAS a good one. I just couldn’t get the answer until I came to your site and saw the pictures of the seasonings. Even knowing the first three letters were most likely “sea”, I still couldn’t get it! I wasn’t picturing it as just one word, I guess.
Hey, Bev. If you read Jeff Knurek’s comment: Now you know the rrest of the story! . . . Good day!

Hey, Jeff. Nice to see you, stranger! — YUR
Great puzzle – didn’t help that I misspelled ‘seize!’
Yes, we had a different take on this whole thing involving the ladies ENJOYING THE MUSCLES at the beachside restaurant but our editor thought it was too sexist. Our editors are in charge so we always go with what they want. In regard to one of your comments about finding new words…It’s getting harder and harder for me to find new words. Every time I find one, it gets harder to find another. I’ve found that if I focus too much time on finding new words, the puzzle actually suffers. My attitude is if I find a new word that fits, then great, and if not, that’s fine too since I’m eventually going to run out of them anyway. It’s just sort of a random thing. My main goal is a good puzzle, regardless of whether it contains any new words. Thanks for all your awesome reviews and comments! I’ve been trying to push as many people your way as I can whenever possible.
Another total booger! Finally got the clue words unjumbled, then came that answer. Thought “sea” was in there and asked my husband to check today’s paper to see if I was in the right ballpark. I was still stuck and he kept saying just say it out loud together…..say what out loud!!! But, it finally worked…kept messing with the remaining letters and adding them to sea ,,, ding, ding, ding….finally!
YUR:
I didn’t have COFFEE in the database before this puzzle, so DLH got one a new one in on you! The puzzle beat me this time — I had SAN as the first three letters, with the ending ING in place. Just couldn’t make sense of it, no matter what order I put the letters in and finally just waited for your superior mind to prevail.
You are too kind, sir! — YUR 😉
