Visual Description: One of the funniest men ever to be on television.
NEVMO = VENOM, LLAST = STALL, HITCEN = ETHNIC, SUTJUN = UNJUST — Giving us: NSLNIUST
Clue/Question: The guest’s rude comments about the lodging establishment were . . .
Answer: “INN–SULTS“
(Great pun . . . for a great show. I think I liked Newhart better than I liked the Bob Newhart Show. But, both shows were great. Some great jumbling, today. I struggled to get “ethnic”, and I was very surprised to find that “stall” is not in the ralis95 database. Great job on the answer letter layout, too. Great likeness of Bob! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

The ‘dream’ finale of Newhart was one of the best finales EVER!
I loved that show! Actually, I liked both of them. And Jen is right, the end of Newhart was the best!!! This was a grand puzzler!
For the uninitiated, the dream scene finale of Newhart was a spoof of the 86-87 season opener of Dallas. In Dallas, Bobby Ewing was Killed off at the end of the 84-85 season. (Patrick Duffy wanted to explore other opportunities.) The 85-86 season got crap ratings, while at the same time Patrick Duffy’s opportunities didn’t quite pan out. So, in the 85-86 season finale cliffhanger the now year long dead Bobby shows up in his ex-wife Pam’s shower, as though that’s what should happen every morning. There was the summer hiatus, and when the 86-87 season opened it was explained that Bobby’s death – and about %97 of the 85-86 season – was all Pam’s dream/nightmare. Most viewers thought that was BS and the ratings continued to flounder.
At the end of Newhart – Bob’s second series – instead of waking up with Mary Fran, in Vermont, he wakes up in Chicago, with Suzanne Pleshette, his wife from The Bob Newhart Show. She rolls over and tells Bob that she just had the strangest dream! — YUR
