You can do anything in this world if you are prepared to take the consequences.”   —   W. Somerset Maugham

(And, sometimes you don’t even have to take those consequences.  Story this past week about a woman missing for some thirty years.  They found her skeletal remains sealed behind a wall in the house that she had lived in.  Turns out her husband, the prime suspect, killed her – they think – and lived with her, in the wall, until he passed away at the age of 82.  Police said they couldn’t justify a search warrant for the home!  Doesn’t give one a confident feeling about some of our law enforcement agencies!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Visual Description: The result of unfettered, deregulated capitalism.

LYODD  =  ODDLY, TALUF  =  FAULT,  VISNET,  INVEST,  LINSAD  =  ISLAND   —   Giving us:  OFATLA

Clue/Question:  No matter how hard he tried, he just couldn’t keep his boat-building business . . .

Answer:  AFLOAT

(Not bad.  Not terribly challenging, but fun.  No new clue words today, but there was some decent jumbling.  I think Jeff must be trying to break away from Henri Arnold’s legacy.  This is the second cartoon this week where we’re getting a water scene without the presence of the classic sinking sailboat on the horizon.  Sure, it’s a bit superfluous, but what’s that got to do with anything?!?!  People love their traditions and rituals, no matter how unnecessary and senseless they might be.  Unless you want to be charged with blasphemy, and possibly even excommunicated, then you best toe the line son.  “Nobody expects the Jumble Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise…surprise and fear…fear and surprise…. our two weapons are fear and surprise…and ruthless efficiency…. Our three weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency…and an almost fanatical devotion to the Hoyt…. Our four…no… amongst our weapons…. amongst our weaponry…are such elements as fear, surprise…. I’ll come in again.”  That’s right, buster.  I think you get the picture.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
