Answer: DRAWN TOGETHER
(Alright, Knurek. Time to identify all of your cohorts! Lady first. The clue words were all well-jumbled. None are new. The answer letter layout was beautiful! Nothing given away. And, the answer made for a good pun. Hey, Jeff? Did you win an award, bro? All you nieces and nephews . . . be well and do good.) — YUR

Just got back from The National Cartoonist Society’s Reuben Awards. It was my first time, as I am a new member of the society. It was great to hang out with so much talent and history. I got to meet Jeannie Schulz, which was the real surprise bonus for me. I also was able to meet many of my favorite cartoonist and see them create and talk about their work. As for the gang that I drew in this Jumble. Starting upper left, that is Tom Richmond, caricature artist/genius. Tom is the president of the society and his work on MAD magazine is amazing. Next to him is, Pearls Before Swine creator, Stephan Pastis (very funny strip), then in the corner is good ol’ Jeff Keane. If you notice I put a Family Circus circle in the papers I draw in the Jumble all the time. I just associate Jumble and Family Circus as two newspaper icons.(meeting him was a highlight). In the middle is Dave Coverly, creator of Speed Bump. I love Speed Bump! and finally Hilary Price, creator of Rhymes With Orange. She won the Reuben Award for Best Newspaper Panel this weekend. She is wonderful as is her comic. It was a blast. The next adventure is trying to line up some cartoonist for a Guest Jumbler week. I’m trying to ask a diverse group of creators to take a try at Jumbling. Hopefully it can happen sometime this year. There you go!
Wow! Nice event, Jeff! Meeting the widow of an American icon must have been a treat. I haven’t picked up a Mad magazine in a number of years, but I’m fairly familiar with the cartoons that you listed. I’m glad that was Hilary, because I’m a HUGE fan of Rhymes With Orange! That, Get Fuzzy and Zits are probably my top three comic strips, today. Glad you had a great time, and thanks for the report, brotha.
