Visual Description: Benjamin Buford “Bubba” Blue’s boat, run by Forrest and Lieutenant Dan.
OFCER = FORCE, RUNPS = SPURN, AMOOTT = TOMATO, NILMEG = MINGLE — Giving us: FRSPTTOINE
Clue/Question: Forrest Gump’s shrimp business resulted in . . .
Answer: NET PROFITS
(Excellent! No obvious *bonus clue* needed. Part of the answer IS part of the trawler, but it’s not extraneous or gratuitous. Nice depiction of Hanks and Sinise, too. What a silly fairy tale of a movie, though. Can you think of anybody that dim – in real life – that fell into more crap, and always came out smelling like a rose? I don’t think George Dubya really qualifies, as he was born with the proverbial silver spoon in his mouth. I.Q. might be close! But, Dubya’s folksy persona was much more contrived. Oh, and Forrest never claimed to talk to God!
Great clue word jumbling and an excellent answer letter layout. Had to think some to get the answer. I flirted with the first word being TOP, for a minute or two. But, I couldn’t do anything with FRSTINE. I think the guys actually wanted to make this one a little more challenging. Works for me! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

As one who hasn’t gone to a movie since 1988, can I ask a question that is probably laughably obvious to everyone?:
What does Forrest Gump have to do with the answer? Why couldn’t it be any fisherman, say Luigi Gorbenfranz? Today simply strikes me – perhaps naively – as a quite generic solution.

UNC- Got clue words, but couldn’t get final answer. I had to turn to my favorite Uncle. Thanks. Have a great weekend and a Happy Easter. WIMPY.

I, too, started down the solution trail with TOP, but couldn’t do anything with FRSTINE, until I realized that it spelled SNIFTER. Now, that opened all kinds of avenues as to what DLH had in mind about good ole Gump. I even considered that perhaps he was trying to explain why Forrest came to be what he was. Eventually, though, reality set in and the correct solution finally came to me.
Mingle took forever…..great jumbling. And the answer took some time too. Great puzzle!
@ Art,
Well, Art. Other than the characters that Jeff chose to depict, it really could have been any fishermen! Jeff was just doing what artists always long to do. Expressing themselves the way they want. I never saw Forrest Gump in the theater. I first saw it on video, and a few times since on television. It’s a silly little feel good fantasy film. It undeservedly took Best Picture honors at the Oscars that year.
@ Wimpy,
Have a Happy Easter yourself, bud! And, tell that dick in the new red Mazda 6, with Westhampton plates, to lighten up! Soft pastels, but a hard-ass, wouldn’t let me alternate merge into the Cash lane at the Whitestone Bridge this evening. LOL!
@ Ralis95,
As I frequently say, my friend: Great minds think alike! Regards to the Missus, and Happy Easter to the both of you!
@ Anonymous,
Very often one word presents a bit of a problem. Today, I struggled some with all four!
