(Not bad.  Not all that tough, but it has its good points.  No new clue words, today.  I thought both the five-letter jumbles, “elder” and “elect”, were tougher than the six-letter ones.  The answer letter layout was just okay.  I guess it’s kind of tough though when you’ve got just one repeating vowel.  Nice sub, Jeff.  Arrr, ye mateys!  Inta th’ briny deep wit yas!  Entertainment needs a good pirate submarine movie!  Don’t ya think???  Be well and be good, friends.)   —   YUR

There has not been too many recent submarine jumbles.
I play jumble daily and watch your YUR jumble blog.
    Thanks for a great blog.

My father just passed about two years ago.
We found his WW2 handwritten small notebook .
He was a radioman for the Navy Air Force .
He flew out of England on antisubmarine missions. ( Bay of Biscay )
His notebook has the frequencies of german u boats to zero in on,
Dad did not talk about his WW2 life to us kids. Ma did not like war stories
to be told. So us kids were sort of in the dark about details in his service.

In the last two months, I decided to review german u boat details.
The book “Operation Drumbeat” gives many details of the german u boat peril in the Atlantic .

So, today all the german u boat era info and my Dad’s antisub notes seemed to “surface” before me when I opened up the jumble.

Well, elect and walrus hung me up a bit. The answer was so obvious, once I finally got it! I’d say my brain matter had some exercise.

    @ JT,

Belated condolences on your father’s passing, JT. You’ve been with Unclerave’s almost from the beginning! I really appreciate your visits, comments, and encouragement. Regulars, like you, make blogging worthwhile, for guys like me.

Great story about your dad! It seems that a lot of wartime veterans really don’t like talking about their experiences. I guess you can’t really blame them. “Operation Drumbeat” sounds like a good book. I just found this Youtube link! It looks like someone made your book into TV documentary. Here’s the link to part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4Q_dDgHecw

    @ LindaLee,

Crosswords, Cryptoquotes and Jumbles are all good for fighting off all forms of dementia. Keep doing them daily. Keep your brain young!

@JT — for some reason when I responded, I did not see your response. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful story. Linda
