This quote doesn’t work. I hate child molestation but not out of fear. The fact is, some hate is good. The society we live in likes to tell us that all hate is bad, and much of the time it is. However, there is such a thing as righteous hatred.
I think you’re taking “hatred” in its broadest context, Mike. Hugh is speaking more to the “hatred” associated with prejudice. Hating *actions* is very understandable. But hating the *actors* doesn’t really do anyone any good. The world is full of the sick and the fractured. And, I don’t mean to sound like a lawyer (or Bill Clinton) but “righteous” can be pretty subjective.
