Clue/Question:  Barry Manilow didn’t want to forget his idea for a new song, so he . . .

Answer:  WROTE A NOTE

(No new clue words, today, but I liked the jumbling on “monkey”!  The answer letter layout wasn’t the greatest, but it wasn’t horrible either.  Not a bad likeness of Barry Manilow.  At first I thought it might be Sir Paul.  They both kind of have that old woman look going.  Kind of wish it had been Sir Paul.  He’s a Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame LEGEND!  While ol’ Barry is merely the King of Shlock.  A college buddy of mine and I came up with this great idea for getting rid of whoever we considered undesirables.  Mostly Disco-types and assorted poseurs.  We would round them up, put ’em on this barge, and take ’em out to the middle of the ocean . . . and then detonate a neutron bombLook ’em up, folks.  Then we’d have the barge brought back so we could fill it up with more of the ilk that we couldn’t stand!  Whenever we met up with, or saw, someone who fit this particular category of barf induction, we’d look at each other and say:  To the barge!  We figured we’d need a captain for this barge, and there was nobody who deserved to be on the barge more than Barry Manilow!  He’d a been sort of the Wyle E. Coyote of the barge.  He’d get blown up over and over . . . and over again.  It was a cartoonish inside joke.  We thought ourselves quite the erudite men about town.  Ahh, those were the days.  No offense, Barry!  I’ve mellowed quite a bit in my old age . . . but you still ain’t cool, bud!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
