WTF happened to the Visual Description and the Jumble breakdown???    Beats me!  How ’bout we see what round two brings?

Visual Description:  Fashion-istas seeing double on the runway.

USEOD  =  DOUSE,  OPRUG  =  GROUP,  NEGNIE  =  ENGINE,  OKRIEO  =  ROOKIE   —   Giving us:  DSGGNEOOE

Clue/Question:  The supermodel twins showed off their . . .

Answer:  GOOD GENES

(JPNY???  Waz dat?  Yur ol’ uncle really isn’t up on the fashion scene.  And, I don’t particularly feel like Googling it.  Pretty old pun they’re pulling on us today.  No new clue words today.  They were all tried and true, but nicely jumbled.  Very good answer letter layout, and a nifty cartoon!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

The law has no compassion.  And justice is administered without compassion.”   —   Christopher Darden

(Hey.  He was one of the original O.J. Simpson prosecutors.  He was the one who asked O.J. to try on the gloves, prompting Johnny Cochran to famously quip:  If it doesn’t fit, you must acquit!  Not sure if he’s still practicing.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

APROE  =  OPERA,  VAKOD  =  VODKA,  DINNUW  =  UNWIND,  GRINTS  =  STRING   —   Giving us:  OAVANITRG

(I think that Hoyt is spreading himself too thin.  This answer is just screaming for a hyphen!   Without the hyphen you lose the double meaning.  Yesterday’s IMPASSE was a little weak on the double meaning, as well.  All the clue words were jumbled really well though.  It always takes me a little time to get “opera”, and “vodka” took me a good long time to get!  I got the longer words right away, today.  The answer letter layout was a thing of beauty.  And, Jeff did a great job on the cartoon.  You can really tell the difference between the driver – the crocodile – and the cousin – the alligator/navigator.  No new clue words today.  That is all.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Visual Description:  Tough decisions on the gridiron.

ZAAME  =  AMAZE,  GUNST  =  STUNG,  PLASIR  =  SPIRAL,  OPLAST  =  POSTAL   —   Giving us:  AMETNSIAPSA

Clue/Question:  When it came time to decide on a starting quarterback, the coach was . . .

Answer:  AT AN IMPASSE

(This one is a bit of a stretch for the double meaning/play on words, but . . .   The partial word “pass” ties in the football angle.  Where’s Earl Morrall???  The clue words were all jumbled exceptionally well.  The toughest one for me was “spiral”.  PLASIR is the French word for pleasure.  I still remember a bit of my high school French.  “Postal” took a bit of thought as well, but not as much as “spiral”.  Excellent answer letter layout.  Absolutely no give away.  And, a great Jeff Knurek cartoon.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Clue/Question:  Taking a nap on the summit allowed the mountain climber to . . .

Answer:  REST UP

( . . . as in UP in the mountains!  Not bad.  A bit of a groaner, even for your old uncle!  The clue word jumbling was pretty good.  No new clue words for ralis95 to address.  The answer letter layout was as good as it gets.  And, the cartoon gets the point across.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer.”   —   John F. Kennedy

(I think this quote is directed towards today’s U.S. Congress.  Too much partisanship.  Too many concerned with making Barack Obama a one-term President.  Such a negative, counter-productive,  anti-American approach to politics.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

(Not bad!  Very timely, being election day n’ all.  I hate that dopey fist-thing they all seem to do these days.  It’s so practiced, and so phoney.  These focus group, image-makers decided that this is the least offensive/most acceptable of hand gestures, and virtually every politician does it now.  It’s nonsense.  It’s rubbish.  It’s poppycock.

We had some very good clue word jumbling, today.  And, it looks like both “dozed” and “nacho” are new clue words.  “Nacho” seems a little familiar.  I really should download the most recent clue word database that ralis95 sent out.  It’s hanging out somewhere in my email.  The answer letter layout was nicely cryptic.  And, the usual top-notch cartoon.  We never heard from Jeff who the two guys from the golf course might have been.  They weren’t the standard cartoon figures.  They were definitely a little more caricature.  I’m still cautiously optimistic about the election, but it’s still a very tight race.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
