Visual Description:  Not exactly soaring, but technically they are ballooning.

Clue/Question:  They had no chance of winning the balloon race because they couldn’t . . .

(They need . . . Viagra???  Oh, I guess that would be keep IT up.  Oh, well!  It looks like these lard-asses could use all the help they could get.  Oh, and before those cards and letters come flying in, I know that Ballooning and Soaring are two separate sports.  I was just using poetic license.  Just trying to spice things up a bit.  Pretty simple answer, today.  However, all the clue words were jumbled well, and we even have two new words in “plaza” and “expire”.  It looks like ralis95 has some more clue word database work to attend to!  No point in commenting about the answer letter layout today!  Nice drawing though.  Hey, Jeff!  How ’bout dem Tigers?  I’m hoping that the Giants can come back against the Cards, but if the Cards should prevail I’ll probably root for the Tigers in the Series!  Wimpy’s dumb-ass Yankees – management – let stupid pride get in the way.  Ask me about it and we’ll discuss it in the comments!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

    Campus was tough.

Initially, I thought so too, Paul! But, after taking a slightly different look at it, I saw the CAM and the PUS, simply backwards!

I thought calling them “lard asses” wasn’t very nice.

I thought yesterday’s answer was very difficult.

UNC- Had trouble with CAMPUS and had to back into it. I understand your thoughts on Yankee management, and remember its a TEAM sport, the Yankees did not hit the ball, and they lacked what the Detroit Tigers have HEART. I’m also gonna root for Detroit in the series, the whole city of Detroit needs a lift, but much more importantly GO BUFFALO!!!!!!!!

Yes, Paul, CAMPUS was tough! I confess cheating on it…backed into it. I kept putting SCAMP and SCAM together. No go! Viagra! LMAO

UNC- As you know Lesley had trouble with campus and she said she cheated by BACKING into it…… Is backing into a word “cheating”. I don’t think so, but inquiring minds want to know. Lesley Don’t let your heart be troubled. Wimpy

Actually, I thought the puzzle was easy today, but then again, I’m a Cardinals fan! Sorry YUR! But, some of my friends & relatives are Aggies, too! Yay Tigers! Looking forward to Sunday’s Jumble tomorrow!

    @ Pat,

Sure, it wasn’t very nice. But, who said I have to be nice all the time??? More importantly, it wasn’t very accurate. Neither of the guys appeared to be heavy. I was just going for a cheap laugh. I’m allowed this every now and again. No?

    @ Wimpy,

Tough call on “backing in” being “cheating”. I look at it more as a short-cut, for when I’m too lazy – or don’t have the time – to try to write out the possible letter combinations. A real purist might insist that it’s cheating, but I consider myself more of a pragmatist. Oh, and the Yankees missed a HUGE opportunity when Jeter went down. Chavez is a more than capable 3rd baseman, but Nunez and Nix are 2nd to 3rd rate shortstops. What 2 time Gold Glove – NATURAL – shortstop did that leave at their disposal??? Hmm! Letting A-Rod play the position he gave up, because of his respect and friendship of Jeter, could have been the spark that would inspire A-Rod to lead the team! It should have been a no-brainer, in my book, if for no other reason than defensive purposes. Your guys cut off their noses to spite their faces. As a baseball fan, I call that STUPID.

UNC- Regarding Yanks and all team sports for that matter one guy cant do it alone we have a very talented HITTING team, and they did not show up, and also Rodriguez was a marginal player all season, and has been a DUD since he got off the JUICE. Regarding BACKING in to a jumble word can we possibly have in the spirit of election season an UNCLERAVE CHEATING POLL. Ask the question and let the UNCLERAVE fans decide including Mr.Hoyt and Mr. Knurek Just a Thought.. Your favorite nephew Wimpy

That’s my point, Wimpy. Most of the team didn’t/couldn’t get a hit, but they went out of their way to punish A-Rod. I didn’t mind the initial benching, because I saw it as a way to *maybe* wake him up. But, after Jeter went down they missed a HUGE motivational moment. To be asked to take over for The Captain, at his natural position, would have been a tremendous ego boost. He very well might have snapped out of his hitting slump, and even if he couldn’t he would have been the best suited at the position.

I’ll consider the “cheating poll” and get back to you. Just like the Wiseguy of the Day contest, these polls take a little more time. And, I’m a little pressed for time these days.

Hey! how ’bout dem Bills?!?! Putrid. Pathetic. and Painful!
