TNFOR = FRONT, CEINE = NIECE, OHSLUD = SHOULD, GIMAPE = MAGPIE — Giving us: NNHOAG
Clue/Question: When he answered his phone while mountain climbing, he said . . .
Answer: HANG ON
(Most of the clue words are very simple words, but expertly jumbled. For me, “magpie” was the toughest to come up with. I didn’t need to back into any of them, today. Not being pressured makes all the difference. Answer letter layout was good, but the short answer was fairly obvious anyway. Cute drawing. Of all places to take a cell phone call! I’m convinced, that life was better before cell phones! Don’t allow that electronic leash to be too big a distraction, guys. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

Had I not had the letters that I needed for the last jumbled word, I’d probably be still sitting here trying to figure out what diabolical word our puzzlers had sent our way! And even having the A and the G didn’t make it too easy! Magpie!!! Whoda thunk it!? Backed in today!

@ Linda Lee,
We’ve had “magpie” AT LEAST once since I’ve been posting the spoilers. And, I think it may be an old Jumble standard. But, that certainly doesn’t make it an easy word to unscramble, especially the way that David L. Hoyt had it jumbled! I know it’s not one, but it has similarities to a compound word, and they very often throw me. Lots of people did searches on GIMAPE, so it looks like we were all in good company!
