Visual Description:  A good mixed doubles pair.

GNART  =  GRANT,  KROCO  =  CROOK,  YONTHR  =  THORNY,  DMELID  =  MIDDLE   —   Giving us:  GATCOHMD

Clue/Question:  The tennis players were such a happy couple because they were this.

Answer:  A GOOD MATCH

(I was able to solve this one without even reading the clue/question!  The answer letter layout was good, but knowing I needed a four and a five letter word, and seeing it was a tennis scenario made the question just a formality.  All the clue words were jumbled  well, although none gave me any trouble.  It looks like ralis95 will be adding “middle” to the clue word database.  I was a little wordy with the Cryptoquote comments so I’ll wrap up this one right now!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

9/13/12:  PS.  I don’t know how this happened, but somehow this was saved as a draft, yesterday!  This hasn’t happened in a very long time.  I’m grateful that WordPress did save it as a draft, but I know I hit publish.  Apologies to those who missed it.  If it weren’t for Linda Lee I wouldn’t have thought to look for it.  I just assumed it was published . . . as usual.  I have been a little distracted.  I’ll try to be more careful, guys!   —   YUR

Jumble Spoiler – 09/13/12

Visual Description:  Just a little gallows humor, today.

KRCTU  =  TRUCK,  UNPDE  =  UPEND,  TOCIPE  =  POETIC,  BUDRAS  =  ABSURD   —   Giving us:  TUKENETIARD

Clue/Question:  The job at the funeral home came with more responsibility and he was anxious to . . .

Answer:  UNDERTAKE IT

(Very good!  Nice and long, and clever.  I didn’t struggle too long with the answer, because I employed the ralis95 method of laying out the answer letters by groups of consonants and vowels.  Initially, I thought the first word was going to end in ED, but for some reason the N, D and R kind of stood out, and then I noticed the U.  That’s when I thought of an undertaker.  They don’t really use that word much anymore.  Not unless your a 6 foot 10 inch scary looking wrestler with the WWE, that is!  Nowadays they’re all funeral directors!

No new clue words, today.  I bet “upend” gave some of you some trouble.  This time I was able to get “poetic” without too much trouble, and “absurd” is one of my all-time favorite words.  I really appreciated the standard answer letter layout.  I might not have gotten the answer without playing the ralis95 way!  Great cartoon!  I love the boss’s sunken looking eyes, and the coffin desk with the handles.  The flowers were a nice touch, too.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Do not worry about avoiding temptation.  As you grow older it will avoid you.”   —   Joey Adams

(Ain’t it the truth?!  Before I figured most of it out, I thought the author was John Adams.  For a second I thought I had made a big mistake!  Joey was funny . . . in a Borscht Belt kind of way.  Old school.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
