(Definitely NOT the spokesperson for Bounty!  This guy sounds like a real wiseguy.  He would have fit in very nicely on this blog.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Sunday Jumble Spoiler – 09/02/12

English: Kenwith conifer tree nursery

English: Kenwith conifer tree nursery (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Visual Description:  The debate over dirt.

GARTEH  =  GATHER,  DOYITD  =  ODDITY,  SUWEIN  =  UNWISE,  SEEORT  =  STEREO,  TWICSH  =  SWITCH,  LIRTEP  =  TRIPLE   —   Giving us:  GHDDUNSOIHRLE

Clue/Question:  The customer demanded a discount on the potting soil, but the nursery owner . . .

Answer:  HELD HIS GROUND

(Very good pun, nicely set up by the nursery owner actually holding a bag of his top soil!  I guess we could also say he’s holding terra firma!  I thought that all of the clue words were jumbled very, very well this day.  The ones that gave me the most trouble were “stereo” and “triple”.  I didn’t need to write them out, or anything, but they took  a little more thought than the other clue words.  None of the clue words were new though.  The answer letter layout was beautifully cryptic.  If the cartoon’s drawing and dialog, and the clue/question, didn’t set this up so nicely I don’t think I could have gotten it with this answer letter layout.  Nice job, Mr. Hoyt!  A very satisfying Sunday Jumble!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Visual Description:  Typical modern office scenario.

XSTIH  =  SIXTH,  MULER  =  LEMUR,  NIHLCC  =  CLINCH,  GEREDE  =  DEGREE   —   Giving us:  XLECLDEE

Clue/Question:  She struggled with her new spreadsheet program at first, but she eventually . . .

Answer:  EXCELLED

(Not bad.  No new clue words, today.  Decent jumbling of the clue words and the answer letter layout.  I’m guessing that no one had too much trouble in solving this one.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

PS.  Happy Birthday wishes go out to:  Bob Newhart, Carol Lawrence, William DevaneGeorge Lazenby, Raquel Welch, Werner Herzog, Al Stewart, Loudon Wainwright III, Cathy Guisewite and Michael Keaton!  You’re all figgin’ old, but I’m glad you’re still with us!  RIP, Michael Clarke Duncan.  You left us too soon.   —   YUR

I spend shockingly little time thinking about real-world stuff.”   —   Trey Parker

(Our first Trey Parker quote, here at the Cryptoquote Spoiler site!  I think Trey is being more than a little modest with this statement.  He couldn’t possibly create such great parodies, lampooning all that is both sacred and ridiculous in this crazy world of ours, if he weren’t thinking about it, to a reasonable extent.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
